Terms of Service

The rules of using MyShieldra.

Last updated: 2026-05-06

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the MyShieldra app and related services (“the Service”), operated by MyShieldra (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of service

MyShieldra is an application that:

  • Shows community report labels for phone numbers and, where supported, uses Private Information Retrieval (PIR) for private caller lookup
  • Allows users to submit reports or flags about phone numbers they believe are spam
  • Maintains a community spam list based on user reports

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Users between 13 and 17 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

4. Account registration

To use certain features, you must create an account using Google Sign-In (handled by Firebase Authentication). You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Keep your sign-in credentials secure
  • Notify us promptly of any unauthorized access

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

5. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or malicious reports against numbers you know are not spam
  • Submit reports through automated tools, scripts, bots, or mass-reporting techniques
  • Use the Service to harass any person or phone number
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, modify, or distribute the client app, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law
  • Bypass or attempt to bypass Firebase App Check, Firebase Authentication, or any other security mechanism
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service’s infrastructure

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. User-submitted content

When you submit a report or flag (a phone number, category, and optional comment), you grant MyShieldra a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, display, and distribute that report to other users of the Service for the purpose of operating the community spam list. This license lasts for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and improve the Service. After account deletion, anonymized phone-number/category report data may remain in the community list; optional comments may be removed where reasonably possible.

You represent that:

  • The reports or flags you submit are based on your honest assessment of the phone number’s behavior
  • You have not submitted reports on behalf of another person without authorization
  • You will not include any sensitive personal information about third parties in comments

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including all software, designs, text, and trademarks (including the “MyShieldra” name and logo), is owned by us or licensed to us. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We do not verify reports. A “scam” or other category label does not mean the number has been verifiably confirmed as such by us.
  • We do not guarantee that all spam calls will have community reports.
  • We do not guarantee that any specific community label is accurate or that any specific number will appear in the community spam list.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or fully secure operation.
  • Private caller lookup depends on platform support, network availability, and our PIR servers; we do not guarantee availability at all times.

You use the Service at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MyShieldra, its operators, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer protection law. Subject to that, our aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to use the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 100.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold MyShieldra harmless from any claims, losses, or damages, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your misuse of the Service, or (c) reports you submit that infringe the rights of others.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time through the in-app account deletion flow.

We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or acted in a manner that harms other users or the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13 survive termination.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.

13. Dispute resolution

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to attempt to resolve the dispute informally by contacting us at support@myshieldra.com. We will respond within 30 days. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally within 60 days, either party may proceed to litigation in accordance with Section 12.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated via the app or by email when feasible. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
